A 63-year-old newspaper vendor died on Friday morning after he was knocked down by a light weight vehicle in Braam Pretorius Street in the north of Pretoria, reports Pretoria North Rekord.
Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Johan van Dyk said the man was crossing the road selling newspapers when he was knocked down by the vehicle around 6am.

“The woman driver was on her way to work, driving in her proper lane and speed when the man was knocked down and he passed away.”
In a tweet following the accident, a motorist claimed that the woman had been speeding.
Van Dyk said a case of culpable homicide was being investigated by police.
