Months of investigations by detectives of the Special Task Force and the National and Provincial Counter Crime Intelligence Division led to the arrest of eight police officers at the Golela border post in KwaZulu-Natal on corruption charges, Zululand Observer reports.
The officers, aged between 30 and 43, face charges of corruption, extortion, defeating the ends of justice and forgery.
An eight-month investigation revealed the police officers allegedly solicited bribes to facilitate the movement of illegal vehicles and goods across the border into Swaziland.
