South African Football Association (SAFA) boss, Danny Jordaan is facing fresh charges of sexual assault after the niece of a top politician opened a case against him at Parkview Police Station this week.
In a report in the Sunday Times, the 40-year-old female author alleges that Jordaan tried to force himself on her, groped her and tried to rip off her underwear in the boardroom of a Sandton hotel in March of 2011.
The paper reports that in her affidavit to police, the woman says Jordaan sexually assaulted her on three occasions including during a meeting at SAFA House in Nasrec.
The new allegations follow accusations by musician and former ANC MP Jennifer Ferguson, who opened a case against Jordaan in March. Ferguson alleged she was raped by Jordaan 24 years ago at a hotel in Port Elizabeth.
Jordaan’s lawyer, Mamodupi Mohlala, has dismissed the allegations, telling the Sunday Times that they seem to be “an attempt to render Dr Jordaan illegible to stand for the Safa presidency. We verily believe that these so-called new allegations form part and parcel of what we previously said is an orchestrated campaign.”
