ANC FS conference that elected Magashule ally declared unlawful
The ANC Free State conference in 2018 that elected Ace Magashule ally, Sam Mashinini, as provincial chairperson has been declared unlawful by the Supreme Court of Appeal (SCA) in Bloemfontein.
Disgruntled ANC members Matshepo Ramakatsa, Themba Mvandaba and Shashapa Motaung had approached the SCA after the Free State High Court through out their case, which allowed Mashinini and the provincial executive committee’s (PEC’s) election to stand.
Muthambi ‘outraged’ after naked woman appears during virtual Parly meeting
The chairperson of parliament’s oversight committee on local government, Faith Muthambi, on Wednesday said she had noted with regret footage trending on social media of a naked woman appearing behind a member of the National House of Traditional Leaders who was participating in a virtual committee meeting on Tuesday evening.
Muthambi said she was outraged by the incident and distanced the portfolio committee on cooperative governance and traditional affairs from the video. She said the woman was not part of the meeting between the committee and the House.
Phindile Baleni appointed first woman DG in the Presidency
After six months without one, the Presidency finally has a director-general (DG).
This comes after President Cyril Ramaphosa appointed Phindile Baleni in the post which Cassius Lubisi left vacant after he left the public service in September last year, Presidency spokesperson Tyrone Seale said on Wednesday.
Pilots union issues strike notice to SAA with unusual demands
For the first time since SAA was founded in 1934 the South African Airways Pilots Association (SAAPA) has issued a strike notice to the airline with a list of unusual demands.
While the industrial action may likely be somewhat symbolic given there is not an operational airline to disrupt, the association’s 350 members have been offensively locked out from the airline since December last year.
VAT fraudsters arrested after eight years on the run
Two men have been rearrested after being on the run from the law for eight years.
The suspects were arrested about 17 years ago for their involvement in a refund for a false VAT input claim to the value of R2.7 million.

Molefi Ntseki was the 18th-man to take charge of Bafana, with several repeat-offenders turning up over the years, and it remains to be seen if the South African Football Association go back to one of those, or pick a new victim to fire in 18 or so months.
