PAC suggests president be changed every six months, coalitions regulated
The Pan Africanist Congress of Azania (PAC) has called for the regulation of multiparty coalitions amid the instability across many municipalities in the country.
The PAC’s leadership addressed media briefing on Monday, following its two-day national executive council (NEC) meeting held over the weekend.

Senzo Meyiwa murder trial: Eyewitness Mthokozisi Thwala under cross exam
The eyewitness testifying in the murder trial of soccer star Senzo Meyiwa had a hard time convincing defense advocate, Sipho Ramosepele, of what happened on that fateful night.
The Bafana Bafana captain was shot dead in the family home of his then-lover and musician Kelly Khumalo, in Vosloorus, in 2014.

‘No interdict’: Section 194 Inquiry to resume next week despite Mkhwebane’s court bid
The Section 194 Inquiry will resume next week for suspended public protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane to continue with her testimony.
The parliamentary inquiry into Mkhwebane’s fitness to hold office could not hear evidence from the Public Protector as the issue of her legal defense’s funding dominated proceedings on Monday.

Phalatse to lay charges against new Joburg Mayor Kabelo Gwamanda
Former Joburg mayor and Democratic Alliance (DA) caucus leader Mpho Phalatse is expected to lay charges against new Joburg mayor Kabelo Gwamanda after accusing him of being a scammer.
Gwamanda, an Al Jama-ah councillor, was elected the city’s fifth mayor at a special council sitting on Friday after receiving 139 votes.

ANC councillor arrested in connection with statutory rape of minors
The African National Congress (ANC) in the North West has suspended a 40-year-old Matlosana local municipal ward councillor with immediate effect following his arrest in connection with statutory rape of two minors.
The councillor who cannot be named to protect his victims was handcuffed following an investigation by the Klerksdorp Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit.

DJ Maphorisa granted R4,000 bail as Thuli drops assault case
Themba Sonnyboy Sekowe affectionately known as DJ Maphorisa was granted R4,000 bail at the Randburg Magistrate’s Court on Monday after his girlfriend, former Generations: The Legacy star Thuli Phongolo dropped the assault case.
According to National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) spokesperson Phindi Mjonodwane, on Sunday, 7 May 2023, the award-winning DJ allegedly hit her with open hands and strangled her after she confronted him about an incident that happened the previous night where he was booked to perform.

Safa appoint ex-Banyana star Monyepao as CEO
The South African Football Association (Safa) on Monday appointed it’s first female Chief Executive Officer, with Lydia Monyepao taking over following the departure of Tebogo Motlanthe.

News of Motlanthe’s resignation broke at the end of last week, and Safa convened an emergency meeting on Sunday, following which Safa president Danny Jordaan hosted a press conference at Safa house on Monday morning.
