Driver arrested for culpable homicide after fuel tanker explosion kills 15

Police in Gauteng arrested a fuel tanker driver for culpable homicide following the death of 15 people and injuries of several others in Boksburg on Saturday.

According to Brigadier Brenda Muridili, the police traced and arrested the driver of the tanker at a private hospital, where he had been receiving medical care for minor injuries, on Saturday evening.

Eskom to implement Stage 1 load shedding from Monday

South Africa will return to Stage 1 load shedding from Monday morning, Eskom has announced.

This follows the suspension of load shedding on Christmas day due to the lower demand for electricity.

While Stage 2 and 3 load shedding was on the cards from 27 December, Eskom confirmed on Sunday that Stage 1 would remain in place until further notice.

Level 2 warning: Heavy rain, hail and strong winds expected in parts of KZN and Limpopo

The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has issued a yellow level 2 warning for severe thunderstorms with excessive lightning, large amounts of small hail, strong winds and heavy downpours on Monday.

The weather warning has been issued for the extreme southern parts of Limpopo, Highveld and escarpment areas of Mpumalanga and northern parts of KwaZulu-Natal.

The Bertha Gxowa Hospital in Germiston has so far welcomed eleven babies on Christmas Day including two sets of twins.

Gauteng MEC for Health and Wellness, Nomantu Nkomo-Ralehoko was at the hospital on Christmas day to welcome the newborns to the world.

L’vovo is still alive – Recorddispels ‘hurtful rumours’

Just a day after the surprising passing of Big Nuz member Mampintsha, news broke that a fellow musician L’vovo Derrango also suffered a minor stroke.

However after a statement confirmed that L’vovo was being treated in the hospital and doing well, this didn’t stop reports claiming he had passed away.
