Prince Mashele ‘eternally grateful’ for R12.5m from Herman Mashaba, apologises for lying

Political analyst and the author of Herman Mashaba’s book, Prince Mashele, has apologised following the controversy over the book he penned about the ActionSA leader.

Mashele made headlines in the past few days after it was reported Mashaba paid R12.5 million in his personal capacity to fund the book, titled The Outsider: The Unauthorised Biography of Herman Mashaba.

EFF demands mayor drink water from Hammanskraal as R450m allocated to Rooiwal upgrades

The City of Tshwane will allocate R450 million for the refurbishment of the Rooiwal Wastewater Treatment Works amid the cholera outbreak in Hammanskraal which has been riddled with poor sanitation and water issues for years.

At least 17 people have died from the the diarrhoeal disease so far, with many others hospitalised due to gastrointestinal infection.

As South Africa continues to endure rolling blackouts, Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema has reiterated his claim that the country’s electricity grid is on the verge of collapse.

Malema, in an interview on Wednesday with the BBC’s HARDtalk with Stephen Sackur, warned of anarchy, looting, and a leaderless revolution if the power grid collapses.

Load shedding halts Enyobeni tavern trial again

The trial of the two Enyobeni tavern owners, accused of selling alcohol to minors on the night 21 people died in their establishment, is expected to continue on Wednesday.

Vuyokazi and Siyakhangela Ndevu appeared in the East London Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, where the case was rolled over due to load shedding.

Two men killed, five injured in suspected vigilante attack at Nyanga taxi rank

There was heavy police presence in the Nyanga taxi rank area following a suspected vigilante attack which left two men dead and five others injured on Wednesday.

According to IOL, the victims were accused of hijackings in the area.

Western Cape to implement pilot project to eliminate power blackouts

Premier Alan Winde led discussions this week during a meeting of the Western Cape Energy Council, which brought together mayors from various municipalities collaborating with the Western Cape government to alleviate the impact of load shedding.

He explained that government plans to achieve this by implementing containerised solar photovoltaic (PV) cells and battery storage in these areas.

Saka signs new long-term Arsenal deal

Bukayo Saka has signed a new long-term contract at Arsenal, saying the Premier League club is the “right place to make the next step” in his blossoming career.

The England forward played a pivotal role in the club’s unsuccessful title push this season, scoring 14 goals in all competitions and providing 11 assists.
