‘No finger-pointing’ – Mashatile says ANC ‘has always been an anti-corruption party’
Deputy President Paul Mashatile found himself defending the ANC against more allegations of corruption, and President Cyril Ramaphosa against allegations of money laundering.
Mashatile was responding to oral questions in the National Council of Provinces (NCOP) on Thursday.

ANC, EFF alliance remove Mogale City mayor in no confidence vote
Mogale City’s DA mayor Tyrone Gray has been removed through a motion of no confidence, just hours after a court ordered the reinstatement of 40 ANC and EFF councillors, who had been fired by the council’s speaker.
The same speaker, Jacqueline Pannall and council whip Lesego Makgatho were also voted out.

Cele claims NPA’s ID cleared him in R102 million spy equipment saga
Police Minister Bheki Cele has dismissed the suggestion he was involved in the alleged corruption relating to the purchase of surveillance equipment.
An affidavit filed by a former chief financial officer (CFO) of the Crime Intelligence’s secret services account has implicated Cele in the irregular procurement of grabbers.

Life Esidimeni: DA asks why govt is still paying Qedani Mahlangu’s legal fees?
The Democratic Alliance (DA) has lashed out at the ANC government, this time accusing it of using taxpayers’ money to pay the legal fees of former Gauteng Health MEC Qedani Mahlangu in the Life Esidimeni inquest.
The DA’s Gauteng Shadow MEC for Health, Jack Bloom, said the DA has written to Justice Minister Ronald Lamola to challenge the State for this.

AFU awarded R584m order against ex-ABB employees, wives and Eskom subcontractors
The Asset Forfeiture Unit (AFU) has been awarded a provisional restraint order valued at R583.8m against former employees of ABB South Africa (ZAABB), their wives and Eskom subcontractors.
The Gauteng High Court granted the order in terms of section 26 of the Prevention of Organised Crimes Act on Thursday, and has been served and enforced against 6 accused and 14 interested parties.

Thabo Bester escape: G4S security guard joined in Dr Nandipha’s case
A G4S security guard arrested in connection with ‘Facebook rapist’ Thabo Bester’s escape from prison will remain behind bars until his next court appearance.
Buti Masukela briefly appeared in the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court on Thursday morning, and is facing a charge of assisting an inmate to escape and defeating the ends of justice.

Lynn Forbes, the mother of the late rapper Kiernan Forbes, better known as AKA, said that she’s struggling to cope with the reality that her son is gone.
The rapper was brutally killed in February, outside Wish Restaurant on Durban’s Florida Road, alongside his former manager and long-time friend Tebello ‘Tibz’ Motsoane.
