Section 194 inquiry on hold after Mkhwebane’s lawyers drop her for ‘professional reasons’

The Section 194 inquiry into suspended public protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane’s fitness to hold office will be on hold until she can find new legal representation.

The inquiry had to be postponed yet again on Wednesday as Mkhwebane arrived without her lawyers.

Mpofu says NPA falsely claimed Ramaphosa was not named in Zuma’s case against Downer

Advocate Dali Mpofu, arguing for former president Jacob Zuma, submitted in court that the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) had falsely claimed that President Cyril Ramaphosa was not named in Zuma’s indictment against Advocate Billy Downer.

Ramaphosa has approached the Johannesburg High Court seeking an order to set aside Zuma’s attempt to privately prosecute him.

The controversial disbarred advocate, Malesela Teffo, reemerged in the murder trial of the five men accused of the killing of former Bafana Bafana and Orlando Pirates goalkeeper, Senzo Meyiwa.

The first locally-produced Covid-19 antigen test in Africa has hit the shelves locally and at pharmacies and supermarkets across the continent.

This was announced by the University of the Western Cape (UWC) on Tuesday.

Ex-Kaizer Chiefs official in court for R100m fraud

A former Kaizer Chiefs official appeared at the Palm Ridge Specialised Commercial Crimes Court on Wednesday alongside his wife and son for fraud of more than R100 million.

The case against the former public relations officer Louis Tshakoane and his co-accused was postponed to next week for a formal bail application.
