Just when Mzansi thought they’ll have an extra hour or two to catch up on their laundry and Netflix, Eskom threw a spanner in the works announcing indefinite stage 6 load shedding – yet again.

On Friday the struggling power utility gave South Africans hope when it announced that stage 5 and stage 4 load shedding would be implemented during the weekend.

Stage 4 load shedding was to be implemented on Sunday morning, but the country’s Sunday lunch plans were ruined on Saturday afternoon when Eskom announced that stage 6 load shedding is actually here to stay until further notice.

South Africans flocked to social media on Saturday using the last bit of their battery power to voice their frustration about the rolling blackouts.

Limpopo ANC’s Vhembe region has pleaded with President Cyril Ramaphosa to make an urgent intervention in what they call a “leaderless” Limpopo ANC’s provincial executive committee (PEC) and the province’s administration.

The residents, comprising ANC branches, community leaders, religious and traditional leaders and ordinary citizens told Ramaphosa that Limpopo ANC was dying a natural death and very fast. This they said happened soon after the party’s December national elective conference, held at Nasrec last year. The angry residents said the latter has also affected service delivery and impacted on their livelihood.

All hail Stellenbosch FC – the PSL minnows became the first team to beat Mamelodi Sundowns after long unbeaten run that spread over 20 games.
