ANC rivals push back because they steal money, says Ramaphosa
President Cyril Ramaphosa lashed out at his rivals within the African National Congress (ANC) just days ahead of the party’s elective conference.
The president had a stern warning for those who abuse their power and steal public funds.
As reported by The Sunday Times, Ramaphosa said his clean-up of state institutions would lead to arrests, but his ANC rivals are opposed to his project.

Kagiso murder investigation: Strange smell leads to a horrid discovery in son’s bedroom
A case of murder is being investigated after a father in Kagiso Extension 13, West Rand, noticed a peculiar smell emanating from his son’s bedroom.
It is alleged the incident happened on either Tuesday or Wednesday when the father noticed the foul smell.
He investigated out of concern and was met with a horrific sight when he peaked under the bed: a woman’s body.
ANC NEC members urge Gordhan to get rid of Eskom CEO André de Ruyter amid load shedding
Calls are increasing for Public Enterprises Minister Pravin Gordhan to fire Eskom CEO André de Ruyter as the country battles with constant load shedding.
The ANC’s national executive committee (NEC) met on Friday to receive and discuss outstanding reports from the governing party’s integrity commission, amongst other matters.
One of the matters ventilated by NEC members during the meeting was Eskom and the country’s energy crisis.

‘Not declaring Phala Phala cash equal to stealing from people’ – Malema slams ‘spy’ Ramaphosa
Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema has taken a swipe at President Cyril Ramaphosa, labelling the head of state as a spy.
Campaigning in Ditsobotla, North West on Sunday, Malema used some parts of his speech to take a dig at Ramaphosa over the Phala Phala saga.
“While water is coming through your shack, your president is sleeping on a bed with dollars in cash. When he wakes up he sits on his couch that has dollars. If you don’t declare the money it’s equal as stealing from the people,” the EFF leader told the crowd.
Floods: CoJ to relocate families situated alongside river banks
The City of Johannesburg said they have long-term plans in place to relocate families who are situated close to river banks as they are most affected by flooding.
This in the wake of heavy downpours that led to severe flooding which displaced residents situated along river banks in parts of Soweto – mostly in Protea Glen, Kliptown and Lenasia.
Pretoria mother handed four life terms for raping daughter with objects
A Dorandia mother was handed more than four life sentences by the Pretoria North Magistrate Court on Thursday on multiple sexual assault charges.
The 39-year-old woman was convicted on charges of rape, sexual assault and the creation of pornography as well as exposure to genitals.
All these acts were perpetuated on her five-year-old daughter. She committed these despicable acts with her boyfriend for their twisted pleasure.
Mosimane hails Regragui after guiding Morocco to first World Cup semis
Former Bafana Bafana coach Pitso Mosimane has praised Walid Regragui after he guided Morocco to the first African nation to reach the World Cup semifinals.
This comes after Morocco edged Portugal 1-0 to become the first African country to reach the semifinals of the World Cup on Saturday.
Following this achievement, Mosimane thanked Regragui for “putting all of Africa in the global map”.
