Kempton Park police spokesperson Captain Jethro Mtshali said the incident took place on Mars Street shortly before 9pm.

“Kempton Park detectives are investigating a case of murder and car hijacking,” he added.

He said police were summoned to the scene where they found Madisha with a gunshot wound to the head. He was certified dead on the scene by paramedics.

Mtshali said it is believed an unknown number of suspects hijacked his BMW, which was found in Tembisa at 2am on Friday morning.

Patson Mayo commented on social media saying the incident happened in front of his house.

“I held the guy’s hand and spoke to him while waiting for paramedics to arrive. Unfortunately he didn’t make it and we are all shaken to say the least. I lost faith in humanity last night,” he said.

Gideon Greyling posted: “Right on my doorstep, not far from me. The area is becoming more and more dangerous. I have been living in Kempton for over 30 years. This place is getting worse by the day. We need national intervention to stop this nonsense.”

Mechell Ndlovu said: “It’s a street away from where I was hijacked three weeks ago and my car was also recovered in Tembisa.”

Anyone with information can contact the investigating officer, Lieutenant Colonel Matome Masha, on 082-778-7606, call 086-001-0111 or SMS the crime line on 32211.
