Customers held hostage during restaurant robbery

Four men held up the manager, and took an undisclosed amount of cash and cellphones from customers, police said.

A customer was allegedly assaulted when patrons in a restaurant in Randpark Ridge, on the West Rand, were held hostage by four armed men.

Honeydew Police Station spokesperson Captain Balan Muthan said police were investigating a case of business robbery at Andiccio24 on the corner of Beyers Naude Drive and Duiker Avenue, Roodepoort Northsider reported.

“Four men, all armed with firearms, held up the manager and took an undisclosed amount of cash and cellphones from customers on Wednesday,” said Muthan.

He added no shots were fired, but indicated one customer was allegedly assaulted. The suspects are still at large.

The restaurant was approached for comment, but the owner declined.
