Couple killed after light aircraft crash in Limpopo

Johannes Kemp and his wife, Angelina, were visiting their son at a game reserve near Mookgophong when the incident occurred.


77-year-old Johannes Kemp and his 66-year-old wife, Angelina, were killed after their aircraft crashed near Mookgophong in the Waterberg district next to one of the game lodges in the Limpopo region on Friday, reports Polokwane Review.

In a statement, police spokesperson Col Moatshe Ngoepe said the pilot and his wife died when their light aircraft crashed into the hill next to the lodge they were planning on visiting.

“It is alleged the couple, Johannes Kemp and his wife Angelina Kemp from Volkrus, Ermelo in the Mpumalanga Province, were visiting their son at the said game lodge when the accident happened.”

A South African Police Service Search and Rescue Team visited the scene of the crash. The Civil Aviation Authority will investigate the cause of the crash, Ngoepe concluded.
