A couple on their way to the gym were hijacked at gunpoint by armed men in the parking lot of The Crescent Shopping Centre in Durban, Northglen News reports.
Captain Raymond Deokaran, spokesperson for the Durban North police, said: “The couple had just parked their vehicle, a BMW, and had gotten out of the vehicle when a black Mercedes pulled in front of them.
“Two suspects, one of whom was armed, pointed a gun at the victims, and demanded the car keys. The suspects then drove off, heading north towards the N2.
“It is unclear if the suspects involved are the ones linked to more than eight armed robberies in the greater Durban area.
“The vehicle used matches the description, but we have been unable to verify the number plates to see if it is the same gang,” Deokaran said.
