Off-duty cop hijacked, abducted and dumped

His service pistol was not taken, as it was hidden under the driver’s seat.

An off-duty police officer was hijacked and abducted in Extension 3, Soshanguve, Pretoria.

Soshanguve police spokesperson Constable Zanele Mtsweni said the hijackers confronted the constable and fired a warning shot before driving off in his VW Polo on Sunday, the Rekord North reported.

The man was dumped, unharmed, along the way, she said.

Police acted swiftly after receiving information from witnesses that the policeman had been hijacked.

“His car was later recovered several kilometres away in Winterveldt,” said Mtsweni.

She said when police recovered the car, the registration number had been removed.

“His service pistol was not taken, as it was hidden under the driver’s seat. No one has been arrested.” said Mtsweni.

“Police are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward with information.”
