The tenants of the Beethoven Street block had to be evacuated to escape injury when fire razed their homes.
Tshwane emergency services spokesperson Johan Pieterse said emergency services arrived in Constantia Park, east of Pretoria, on Tuesday to attend to the fire, the Rekord East reports.
“We can confirm building damage and that the tenants had been evacuated.”
Security company ADT spokesperson Jacquie Moloi-Rorke said sister company Fidelity responded to the scene.
Fidelity ADT community development manager Bennie Coetzee said the company was called out at 07.45pm.
He said there was smoke reportedly coming from the Beethoven Complex in Beethoven Street and the company notified the Garsfontein Police Station and the Castle Walk fire brigade before dispatching a team to the premises.
The fire was subsequently put out and no injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire was unknown and the subject of an investigation.
