Brits farmer in court on charges of attempted murder

A farmer from Mooinooi, outside Brits, was arrested in connection with the disappearance of a man in Majakaneng, said North West police.

The man was arrested on Saturday after an investigation of a case of attempted murder on Tebogo Ndlovu, 24, of Majakaneng, Kormorant reported.

Police spokesperson Brigadier Sabata Mokgwabone said the accused would appear in the Brits Magistrates’ Court on Monday.

“It is alleged that the accused shot Ndlovu on his farm in Mooinooi on August 2. Tebogo and two other men apparently stole oranges when shots were fired on them.

“Tebogo was hit and the two men with him manage to run away. Tebogo was never seen again.”

“The incident was reported to the police two days later. Tebogo’s disappearance led to violent protest at Majakaneng, and five vehicles were set alight. The roads between Brits and Rustenburg (N4, R104 and R566) were blocked. The search for Tebogo is continuing.”

Mokgwabone requested anybody with information to contact the police at 082 416 0767.

Lieutenant-General Baile Motswenyane, provincial police commissioner, requested members of the Majakaneng community to work together with the police and to refrain from damaging of property and blocking roads.
