The Pharaohs topped their group in qualifying after losing just one of their six games but were heavily reliant on Liverpool star Mohamed Salah.
Uruguay are regarded as the favourites to progress from Group A although they haven’t opened a World Cup campaign with a victory since 1970 – drawing three and losing three in the meantime.
The South Americans finished second to Brazil in qualifying, coming second ahead of Argentina, and they have impressed at the last two World Cups.
La Celeste finished fourth in 2010 and they could go far again this year with the likes of Luis Suarez and Edinson Cavani leading the line.
