Angry daughter kills neighbour

The suspect lied to police that the bloodstains she had were from a chicken she had just slaughtered.

26-year-old Magareth Radebe, is facing charges for murder, while her mother, Selina Mthimkulu (48) is facing assault charges south of Johannesburg, Sedibeng Ster reports.

The daughter apparently admitted to the police that she killed her neighbour, Mimmie Angelina Mthimkulu (52) (no relation to the mother) after stabbing her with a knife. She explained to the police that she was defending her mother.
The police were told that Radebe accused the deceased of sleeping with her stepfather. It is said that the suspect was with her mother at a tavern and while they were drinking, the deceased also arrived. The suspect and her mother apparently accused the deceased of sleeping with her stepfather during an argument. The patrons intervened and the victim left for her house.
The younger brother of the deceased, Papi Minare, said his sister later decided to visit one of her friends and that is when the suspect saw her in the street.
She and her mother followed the victim and grabbed her from behind in the street before pulling her to the ground by the neck. The suspect allegedly brought a knife and stabbed the deceased from behind in the neck and side of the head.
By the time the members of the community rushed to help, it was too late. The ambulance and the police were alerted and when the ambulance arrived she was declared dead.
The two managed to escape and hid in the Joko Tea informal squatter camp, near Bophelong.
Police immediately followed information and Radebe still had blood on her clothes and lied to the police by telling them that she had just slaughtered a chicken.
Police spokesperson Sergeant Gertrude Makhale said Radebe is charged with murder and her mother with assault.
The two appeared in the Vanderbijlpark Magistrates’ Court and the case was postponed for further investigations.
