Millions of people across the world are shocked at the news of Kobe Bryant and his second daughter’s tragic passing. Kobe and Gianna “Gigi” lost their lives in a helicopter crash yesterday along with seven passengers.
Not only was Kobe the G.O.A.T in the basket circles, but he was also a true family man. He was a father to four beautiful girls, one of whom lost her life in the crash.
Here are a few of our favourite Kobe Bryant dad moments.
Breaking the game down for Gigi
Kobe had a true passion for basketball. Not only did he play the game, but he also paying it forward by starting his own sports academy. Our favourite video is when he was teaching Gigi about the game when they were watching one together.
Training Gigi on how to play the game
In an interview with Jimmy Kimmel, Kobe relayed the story of how Gigi would confidently tell Mamba fans that daddy does not need to have a boy because she will carry the family tradition of playing ball. Gigi was as passionate about basketball as her dad. So he never looked at her daughter as a girl that couldn’t play. Instead, he trained her and never went easy on her.
Taking his youngest to see the Nutcracker Ballet Show
It’s a Bryant family tradition to watch the Nutcracker Ballet Show with the family during the holidays. 2019 Christmas was no exception. Kobe shared a picture with a happy Bianka Belle with dancer Misty Copeland. He always made sure to have some downtime with the family.
Dressing up for Halloween
The Bryant family dressed up for Halloween 2019 as the Wizard of Oz. Kobe dressed up as the Munchkin Mayor, Gigi as the Tin Man, Bianka Belle as Dorothy Gale, and Vanessa as the Wicked Witch of the West.
Encouraging his daughters on hard work
Kobe gave a powerful message to his daughters about hard work after telling his wife that she was an inspiration to him. His message was that every time that they had to work hard was “actually the dream”. He told them that when they put in the work, something bigger than achieving their dreams would take place.
Rest in peace to both Kobe and Gianna Bryant.
