36 Crazyfists coming to play in SA this month

The Alaskan band, named after the aforementioned movie, has been highly influential in the rock metal scene – a central figurehead in the global music landscape. Formed in 1994, the quartet have developed a cult following the world over, carrying tons of experience thanks to massive tours with bands such as Killswitch Engage and Chimaira, and numerous festival appearances.

What’s kept them together and going strong? Vocalist Brock Lindow says: “We are the best of friends and, coming from Alaska, I feel like the desire to continue to see the Earth together and prolong our careers has been a part of what we always wanted to do with our band.”

Based on social media support, the band confirms a loyal following in South Africa, with their visit to the country long overdue.

“We have met a few groups of fans over the years in places like London where these South Africans flew out to gigs, so that always showed me we had interest down there,” Lindow says.

Hot off the release of their excellent sixth studio album, Time And Trauma, the band will be making their way to the country at the end of September for the Krank’d Up 2015 Festival at Sundowners in Alberton. Based on the resounding success of last year’s festival, Krank’d Up has gone from strength to strength in the space of three short years, and this year’s line-up is bound to take things to a new level.

Asked what they are most looking forward to, Lindow concludes: “The people, the culture and the craft beer.”
