PICS: Youngsters explore underrated creatures at this year’s Yebo Gogga exhibition
Wits University's annual exhibition seeks to educate those interested in learning more about creatures essential to our ecosystem.

Busting myths and uncovering truths of unconventional creatures was the aim of this year’s annual Yebo Gogga exhibition, held at the University of the Witwatersrand.
Aimed at educating the whole family, the exhibition hosted a number of interesting animals and insects and provided fun facts that were not widely known and were very beneficial to understanding nature’s delicate ecosystem.

This year, the theme was “Myths and Truths”, while honouring the year of the fly, a much-hated but equally essential part of life. Flies are the ultimate recyclers and are an essential food source for an array of animals. Our knowledge of DNA and genetics, interestingly, owes much to the humble fruit fly, Wits explains on their website.

The exhibition is currently taking place at the Oppenheimer Life Sciences Building at Wits’ East Campus. It is open from 8.30am – 3pm on weekdays, and 9am – 4pm on weekends. The exhibition runs until May 12.
