Information was sketchy on Friday, but paramedics who arrived at the scene were told the man fell from his horse.

After the fall, the horse then kicked the man in the head, according to Netcare 911 spokesperson Shawn Herbst.

“The patient was assessed on the scene by a Netcare 911 emergency care practitioner and found to have sustained serious head injuries,” said Herbst.

“Due to the seriousness of the man’s injuries, a Netcare helicopter was called to the scene to airlift him to hospital for further treatment.”
