Not the first time Moyane abused my daughter – mother

The mother of a 17-year-old girl, who has accused Tom Moyane of assaulting her, says that this is not the first time her daughter has suffered abuse at the hands of the suspended Sars boss.

The mother of the 17-year-old girl who has accused Tom Moyane of assaulting her says this is not the first time the suspended Sars boss has abused her daughter, EWN has reported.

Cynthia Masina claims that her daughter, who has a six-month-old baby with Moyane’s son, has faced emotional abused at the hands of Moyane and his wife.

Masina says that she decided not to report the earlier abuse, hoping it would end, but decided to take action after seeing the bruises on her daughter’s body.

“I’m still not in a good state to talk about this but what I can say over the phone, is that I’ve heard everything over the phone that my daughter forwarded me, with a man shouting. That’s all I can say for now.”

Police have confirmed that Moyane has been warned to present himself at the magistrates court in Roodeport on Friday. He is accused of physically assaulting the teenager last week.

The assault trial will add to Moyane’s legal woes. He currently stands accused by the Hawks of concealing corruption, in an investigation the unit say they hope to finalise by the end of the month.

Moyane has been accused of contravention of the Financial Intelligent Centre and the Prevention and Combatting of Corrupt Activities Acts.

He is also facing a disciplinary inquiry in relation to 12 charges of misconduct during his tenure as Sars boss.
