Puppy tied to pole rescued by good Samaritan

The puppy is about four months old and in good health.

Dog lovers were touched by pictures the Benoni SPCA posted of an abandoned Yorkshire terrier on Facebook on October 31.

The society said a good Samaritan had found a puppy tied to a pole on Tom Jones Street in Benoni, Ekurhuleni, Benoni City Times reports.

“It’s uncertain as to how long the pup had been tied up. He quickly pulled over and rescued the confused animal and took him straight to the Benoni SPCA,” the society stated.

The puppy is apparently about four months old and in good health.

“One would think that, by now, our staff would be accustomed to the inconceivable acts of deliberate cruelty we witness every day,” says the post.

The SPCA cleverly named the pup, TJ, after the street he was found on – Tom Jones.

According to the SPCA, he will be put up for adoption soon though, and they have urged residents to contact the Benoni SPCA inspectorate if they have any information about who left the puppy there.
