Fourteen injured as taxi rolls on R21

Paramedics found several passengers walking around on the scene.


Fourteen people were injured on Friday morning when a taxi overturned on the R21 south near the Benoni off-ramp in Ekurhuleni, Kempton Express reports.

Russel Meiring of ER24 said ER24 paramedics – along with other services – arrived on the scene to find the taxi lying on its roof in the far right-hand lane of the highway. Several passengers were found walking around on the scene.

“Paramedics assessed the patients, and found 14 had sustained injuries ranging from minor to serious. Fortunately, no fatalities were reported,“ Meiring added.

The patients were treated for their injuries and the seriously injured provided with advanced life support before they were transported to various hospitals.

Authorities were on the scene to investigate the cause of the incident.

The accident caused severe traffic delays.
