Man hangs himself after burning wife in hut

The elderly couple, both aged 75, were engaged in a domestic dispute until the husband began assaulting his wife.


Police in Bolobedu, Limpopo, are investigating cases of murder that occurred on Monday night in Madibeng Village, Letaba Herald reports.

It is alleged that an elderly couple, both aged 75, were engaged in a domestic dispute until the husband began assaulting his wife.

The dispute escalated to the point where, during the conflict, he locked her inside the hut and set it alight before fleeing the scene.

Family members’ attempts to extinguish the fire were in vain.

Unfortunately, it burned to the ground, and she died instantly from burn wounds.

Her husband was found hanging from a tree in the nearby bush.

The deceased were identified as Elizabeth and Albert Lenexa from Madibeng Village.

The cause of the domestic dispute is unknown at this stage, and police investigations are ongoing.
