Assassinations resemble apartheid days – ANC KZN

The KZN ANC provincial secretary faced a barrage of questions after saying investigations should also look into whether the killings weren’t being funded from elsewhere.


The African National Congress (ANC) in KwaZulu-Natal says the manner in which its councillors have been assassinated resembles the “state-sponsored black-on-black violence” during the height of apartheid, Knysna Plett Herald reports.

The KZN ANC says it will now launch its own probe into the causes of murders in the organisation, and has committed to working closely with law enforcement agencies.

Former ANC youth league secretary Sindiso Magaqa is among the party’s councillors who have been assassinated in a spate of politically motivated murders.

KZN ANC provincial secretary Super Zuma faced a barrage of questions after saying investigations should also look into whether the killings aren’t being funded from elsewhere.

Zuma says this isn’t shifting the blame, but the way the assassinations have been carried out resemble the violence seen during the 1980s and 1990s.
