Duo arrested after high speed chase

Police found balaclavas and gloves inside the car.

The Lyttelton police in Centurion arrested two suspects in their late twenties on Saturday morning, Centurion Rekord reports.

Police spokesman, Captain Dave Miller said the crime prevention unit noticed the two vehicles and started to follow them.

“The drivers of the vehicles noticed that they were being followed by the police and tried to chase off,” said Miller.

Miller said a white 1 Series BMW got away, but with the help of other police stations and the Tshwane metro police, the silver Volkswagen Polo could be cornered.

“The vehicles drove down Craddock Street in Lyttelton and turned into Botha. The vehicles split up, but police managed to capture the Polo,” Miller said.

He said one of the suspects had an outstanding warrant of arrest against him for armed robbery. The other has a pending investigation for armed robbery and other serious crimes.

Miller said it was obvious that the suspects were up to no good in the area.

“Luckily they were spotted by our crime prevention unit. The Lyttlton police would like to thank all the other members that assisted, including the TMPD,” said Miller.
