KNP ranger caught with big arms cache and stolen property

The ranger was leading and supplying a certain poaching syndicate with a field ranger’s uniform, and also leading a blue-light gang.


The Mpumalanga Tracking Team followed up information of a Kruger National Park field ranger who is allegedly leading and supplying a certain poaching syndicate with a field ranger’s uniform and also leading a blue-light gang, Letaba Herald reports.

According to information, he was taken from his place of work (KNP) to search his house at Anthol near Manyeleti Game Reserve.

The following items were identified and confirmed stolen from his workplace at KNP and were found in his house: bicycle, quad bike, field ranger’s uniform, cleaning equipment, gas bottles, garden tools, ammunition and more.

”He was arrested and detained at Mhala Police Station for possession of suspected stolen property and unlawful ammunition.

The suspect was also booked out to search where he normally sleeps when he is at work, and the following items that confirmed him to be a blue-light gang were recovered in his room: blue light, R5 live rounds, R5 and R1 magazine, four mag lights, police uniform, four sets of handcuffs and 375 rifle rounds.

He was also charged for being in possession of suspected stolen property and unlawful ammunition.
