Pretoria bridges closed due to heavy rain

Tuesday will have an 80% chance for rain, with temperatures reaching a minimum of 17°C and a maximum of 20°C.


A rainy, wet and cloudy week is expected for Pretoria in the coming week, said the SA Weather Services.

Tuesday promises to be gloomy with heavy rain and possible floods, Rekord East reported.

“People are urged to be vigilant and careful when approaching low-water bridges across Pretoria,” said Johan Pieterse from Tshwane Emergency Services.

“Some Centurion low-water bridges, the Apies river in Capital Park and Rooiwal low-water bridges are closed due to possible flooding in the area,” he added.

Tuesday will have an 80% chance for rain, with temperatures reaching a minimum of 17°C and a maximum of 20°C.

“Please be on the look out for emergency personnel at low-water bridge sites, and please do not make use of these bridges in the rain,” said Pieterse.

Wednesday will be another cloudy day with an 80% chance of rain predicted.

Temperatures will vary between 17°C and 22°C.

There is a 60% of rain on Thursday, with a minimum temperature of 17°C and a maximum of 23°C.

On Friday, the weather might start looking a little warmer with a 60% chance of rain; a minimum temperature of 17°C and a maximum of 25°C is expected.

We will be entering a warmer weekend with temperatures on Saturday and Sunday, varying between a minimum of 18°C and a maximum of 28°C.

There will be late afternoon showers on both days.
