A driver of a light-duty vehicle travelling towards Durban rear-ended a truck

One person has been injured following a collision along the M19 Durban-bound lane on Tuesday.

Netcare 911 spokesperson Chris Botha said the bakkie lost its load, causing a truck to stop.

The driver of a light-duty vehicle (LDV) who was travelling towards Durban was unable to stop in time and rear-ended the truck, Highway Mail reported.

“Paramedics and the fire services arrived at the scene and found the driver of the LDV trapped in the wreckage of his truck with critical injuries. While the firemen used the Jaws of Life to free the man, paramedics from various services worked hand in hand to stabilise him,”  said Botha.

After the driver was freed from the wreckage, they placed him on a ventilator before transporting him to hospital.
