Reports: Protests block Cape Town’s N2 again

Despite the ANC saying it is taking action against a member who threatened to make the N2 ‘chaotic and unstable’, motorists were again blocked, although the circumstances are unclear at this stage.

For the second time this week, protests on the freeway feeding Cape Town International Airport have blocked traffic.

Motorists were advised to use alternative routes, although the freeway has now been reopened. Traffic volumes will, however, mean major delays for morning motorists.

On Wednesday night, protests allegedly related to ANC councillor lists led to two buses being burnt on the highway. However, the ANC denied any involvement.

The party later, however, suspended its member who “instigated” the violence.
