The Amazon river dolphin is a threatened species.

Veterinarians and armed forces joined efforts to rescue a pink dolphin stranded in shallow waters on Sunday in Casanare, Colombia.

The Amazon river dolphin can only survive in freshwater.

It is a threatened species due to loss of its habitat, overfishing in the area as well as high amounts boat traffic.

It was flown to the Meta River and swam free.
