In the first few seconds of the incident captured on video, a large monkey is seen rummaging through the contents of the car boot, before the supposed car owner hurries to his vehicle and manages to shut the trunk.
The baboon doesn’t take kindly to being interrupted and tries to scare off the owner, who backs away.
A short, albeit comical stand off between the car owner and the animal ensues, before the clever primate opens the back-seat car door.
The now stunned owner gives chase and tries to open the door, but the determined baboon wouldn’t give up that easy and holds on to the door from the inside.

While the owner pauses, seemingly planning his next move, the baboon is filmed helping himself to banana’s and nartjies stashed in boxes on the back seat, while a second accomplice arrives on the scene.
The man manages to open the door, but completely missed the primate’s accomplice, who makes an attempt to join his heist partner.
The second baboon was unsuccessful in the attempt to enter the back seat, but the scene caught the attention of the first baboon who was up until then, gorging himself on the fruits of his heist.
By that time, men who look like park rangers or animal control arrive on scene and are seen warning people to keep their distance.
Upon seeing the ranger, the primate duo grabs the boxes and flees into surrounding bushes.
