For Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates, the season has got that bit spicier, with another Soweto derby on the horizon, as the pair have been drawn to meet in the Nedbank Cup semifinals.
The draw was conducted just moments after Chiefs had beaten Royal AM in the quarterfinals on Sunday, and the celebrations were wild in the Chiefs camp when they realised they were playing Pirates.
In this week’s Ballz to the Wall Podcast, Phakaaathi editor Jonty Mark, along with football writers Sibongiseni Gumbi and Tshepo Ntsoelengoe, look back at last weekend’s Nedbank Cup quarterfinals, and discuss who out of Amakhosi and the Buccaneers could come out on top in the semis.
The Ballz to the Wall team also look at Stellenbosch FC, as Steve Barker’s side inflicted a rare defeat on Mamelodi Sundowns, and will now face Sekhukhune in the semifinals. Are Stellenbosch the cup favourites now that they have knocked out the DStv Premiership champions?
And we also look at the continuing race for second place with Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates both in DStv Premiership action this weekend. Will Pirates continue their winning run against Cape Town City. on Saturday and can Chiefs bounce back from a draw with Marumo Gallants and take down Sekhukhune United?
