On Sunday the Johannesburg Metro Police Department conducted an operation in Zamimpilo to stamp out illegal mining.

City of Johannesburg MMC for Public Safety Mgcini Tshwaku joined the operation. Riverlea residents have been plagued by violent gun battles between warring illegal mining gangs.
