There’s a new queen in town

As this publication asked the big question last week: Who is going to be Miss Barberton 2013? The question was answered when Noluthando Zulu was crowned Miss Barberton 2013.

BARBERTON – This town came alive on Saturday night as people came in numbers at Coronation Park to witness the crowning of Miss Barberton 2013.

The standard of the beauty pageant has shown a huge improvement compared to last year in terms of organizing and the beautiful girls who were sharing the stage in such a way that it attracted people from outside the area, including Matsulu and Kanyamazane.

This pageant aims to empower young girls in the area who want to leave a mark or take their careers in modelling to another level such as,taking part in Miss Mpumalanga and Miss South Africa, respectively.

According to the judges, they were looking for someone who is intelligent and who will manage to be an ambassador of the youth and also play a significant role in addressing issues that are faced by young people.

Speaking to this publication, the CEO of the Perfect Future Modelling Agency which hosted the event, Ms Ncobile Mhlongo, “We have realized that young girls are falling pregnant and end up dropping out of school because they are not focussed or don’t have any vision. Organizing such an event, we want to encourage them to be focussed and to know how precious they are.

“We need someone who will be the ambassador of this town, sending message to the youth in a good way. It’s not all about beauty only, as we say: Beauty with brains,” she pointed out.

Delivering her last speech before handing over the crown to the new queen, Miss Barberton 2012, Jessica Mndebele said: “Being crown Miss Barberton was an opportunity of a life time. It helped me a lot as an individual as I have learnt to work with different people in some of the activities. Now I understand what it means to be an ambassador. It was fun. I had a great time and lastly, I like to applaud the ladies who were taking part this year. It takes guts to do that and I also like to wish all the best the upcoming queen. I believe that she will continue where I left off.“
