Mpumalanga teachers soar to new heights overseas

The Mpumalanga MEC for education said she was happy to see local teachers going abroad, being empowered and reaching new heights.

Two teachers from Mpumalanga, Samukelisiwe Hlomuka of Johannes Kanada Primary School and Noori-sha Seedat of MMS Primary School in the Nkangala District, embarked on a transformative journey to China on October 8.

As previous winners of the prestigious National Teaching Awards, these teachers were chosen to participate in a capacity-building programme designed to enhance their skills and knowledge.

This opportunity was made possible through a collaborative effort between the Department of Basic Education, Department of Higher Education and Training and the Chinese Embassy.
Hlomuka and Seedat were selected for this prestigious programme thanks to the profound impact their dedication and expertise have had on their learners and their communities.

The MEC for education, Cathy Dlamini, said she was overjoyed when she received news of this programme.

“We are truly grateful for our teachers. Their journey to China is a shining example of how the National Teaching Awards are more than just accolades; they are recognition of excellence that can inspire and empower teachers to reach new heights.”

Dlamini said as they embark on this exciting adventure, they extend our warmest wishes to them.
