Varied oval racing at Mahem
The Mahem Raceway in Pretoria West will host its final daylight race meeting of the year on Sunday afternoon.
WILD BUNCH: The V8 Sprint Car contingent should provide much tyre smoking action at Mahem this Sunday.
The Rebuild Centre Winter Challenge finale will boast a variety of action headed by a Midas Showman of the Year V8 Sprint Car round. Some 15 hugely winged, massively tyred, 500 kW Sprint Cars will take to the tarmac with the drivers to beat Shane Carlson, Johan Van Heerden, Charles Carlson and Quinton Fourie.
Almost matching the V6 cars for pace will be a full field of rotary powered Midgets, with more than a dozen of the 250 kW cars entered. Single seaters apart, some of the country’s top two-litre Saloon Car drivers will be in action with the final tin-top race of the day carrying a R5 000 cash prize.
There will also be races for Ninja Midget karts, Stock Rods and 1660 Modified Saloons.
The Mahem gates will open at 10am with racing to start at 2pm. Admission is R50 per adult and R20 for kids between the ages of seven and 16, while kids under the age of seven will go in for free.
