V8 veterans get up close and personal

This year's V8 Supercar championship will go down to the wire at Zwartkops on Saturday, with two of the sport's toughest veterans fighting for the title.

Either Ben Morgenrood (Indy Oil Mustang) or Franco di Matteo (Varta Batteries Jaguar) will leave as new titleholder, with little to choose between them in terms of pace or consistency.

Able to disrupt the title fight should be drivers like Mackie Adlem (Kia Randfontein Jaguar), Larry Wilford (Hot Wheels Corvette), Roelf du Plessis (RJ Panelbeaters Corvette) and Matty Maartens (Denmar Steel Services Jaguar).

> Alan Eve (Pilot Pens Shelby) has already been crowned as the year’s sports car champion and should remain the man to beat.

Taking him on will be the likes of Rui Campos (Liqui Moly Shelby), Barry Ingle (Fantastic Shelby), Alister Brown (NAC Shelby), Craig Shorter (Hollard Shelby), Mark Lauth (Black Chrome Shelby) and Andrew Strike ( Strike 1 Shelby).

> This year’s Formula Volkswagen title will also be decided at Zwartkops on Saturday, with Robert Wolk (Midas FVW) and Nicholas van Weely (Anglorand FVW) locked on points at the top of the log.

Behind them, Werner Scholtz (Motorvia FVW) and Jason Campos (Hollard Insurance FVW) will fight for third place in the championship.

> In the Midas Formula 1600 championship, Scott Temple (Investchem Mygale) has a comfortable 11-point cushion to keep his championship hopes safe.

Chasing him will be Keegan Campos (Hollard Insurance Mygale) and Bevan Williams (Hollard Insurance Mygale).
