Unitrans Volkswagen steps up again in the fight against rhino poaching

Kevin Gillmer, divisional chief executive of Unitrans Volkswagen, recently handed over a 4×4 Volkswagen Amarok to Major General Johan Jooste the officer commanding special projects in the Kruger National Park. This confirms a commitment to ensuring the field rangers on the ground have the skills and equipment to allow them to continue their fight against rhino poaching.

This Amarok will facilitate General Jooste having access to all areas of the Kruger National Park in his on-going battle against rhino poaching. Unite against Poaching has also renewed the 4X4 Volkswagen Amarok already in use for the ground transport of the tracker hounds unit.

The tracker hounds have been identified as a significant weapon in the counter poaching arsenal. The knowledge that a well-trained and equipped field ranger is one of the most significant weapons in the war against poaching.

Unitrans Volkswagen, through the Unite against Poaching fund has contributed over R6 million to the fight against rhino poaching.
