Tyre-spinning V8 Supercar action

Saturday's noisiest action at Zwartkops will be provided by two races for Sports Cars and V8 Supercars, with a full grid of some 20 slick-shod vehicles set to face the starter.

Ben Morgenrood (Indy Oil Mustang) leads the V8 Supercar title chase, with Franco di Matteo (Varta Batteries Jaguar) in close proximity and Mackie Adlem (Adlem Auto Jaguar) still in the hunt in third place.

Those who may interfere with their plans are Larry Wilford (Motul Oil Corvette), Terry Wilford (Auto Mart Ford Falcon), Willie Hepburn (Hepburn Racing Corvette) and newcomer Matty Maartens (Denmar Steel Services Jaguar).

Doing battle in the midfield should be drivers Romano Sartori (AMC Mustang), Clare Vale (Liqui Moly Mustang), Jody van Zummeren (Border Towing Corvette) and Steve Herbst (Prei Instrumentation Corvette).

Heading up the Shelby Sports Car field will be current overall championship leader Alan Eve (Pilot Pens Shelby), with his closest adversaries Rui Campos (Liqui Moly Shelby) and Craig Shorter (Hollard Shelby).

> The Ferodo team’s Daniel Rowe and Sheldon van der Linde will lead the Engen Volkswagen Cup field in their Polos, challenged by Dewald Brummer (GPM Polo), Tasmin Pepper (PG Glass Polo), Trevor Bland (Alpine Motors Polo), Mathew Hodges (ITR Africa Polo) and Jano van der Westhuizen (VW Polo).

challengers likely to be Robert Wolk (Midas FVW), Werner Scholtz (Formula VW), Jason Campos (Hollard FVW), Matthew Merton (Formula VW) and Craig Shorter (Hollard FVW).
