Toyota might kill diesel option for RAV4 lineup

Days for the diesel-powered Toyota RAV4 could be numbered.

This comes after a report by a German publication that the Japanese car brand could stop selling the D-4D 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbodiesel option for the RAV4.

This comes after Toyota’s recent pledge made towards focusing on eco-friendly petrol and electric powertrains.

It still remains unknown if Toyota will kill the 2.2-litre turbodiesel in SA, however, the initiative seems to affect all international markets.

The next-generation RAV4 is set to be introduced in 2019 with European countries only set to get the naturally aspirated 2.0 and 2.5-litre four-cylinder petrol motors.
