Toyota Fortuner standard specification sheet revised

Just over a year after making its South African market debut, Toyota has introduced a raft of specification changes to the Fortuner while keeping the model line-up unchanged.

Arriving a month after similar changes to its sibling, the Toyota Hilux, and four weeks after the reveal of the all-new Isuzu MU-X, the revisions mostly centre around the flagship VX as the only update across all models comprise the standard fitting of keyless entry.

Rear also continues unaltered

For the VX, the previous Pearl White paint option makes way for Platinum White Pearl while the Toyota Safety Sense system gains Rear Cross Traffic Alert and Blind Spot Monitoring.

On all models powered by the 2.8 GD-6 engine, dual-zone climate control becomes standard fare, with the VX adding two speakers to the standard JBL sound system for a total of eleven. In addition, a surround-view camera system replaces the reverse only display.

Infotainment system now makes exclusive of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for navigation

No longer offered though is the embedded satellite navigation system as a result, according to Toyota, of buyer’s reliance on the standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto-based systems.

Up front, the powertrains remain unchanged with the entry-level 2.4 GD-6 still producing 110kW/400Nm and mentioned 2.8 GD-6 150kW/500Nm. A six-speed manual comes as standard on the former with a six-speed automatic optional and the sole choice for the latter unit.

Price

As before, all Fortuners are covered by a three year/100 000 km warranty as well as a nine service/90 000 km service plan.
