The Walkerville circuit will host a Race to Remember day this Sunday in memory of fallen racers Des Bekker and Spider Mike Carson.
SLIDE. Speedway action will be fast and furious at the Walkerville oval track this Sunday.
The event, organised by the Walkerville speedway riders’ club in conjunction with The Monarchs motorcycle club, will mainly serve up a five-man team race event between Team Bekker and Team Spider Mike.
Team Bekker will be led by Des Bekker’s nephew Byron Bekker, one of the country’s most successful international speedway racers. The other team will be led by multiple SA champion Neil Petit. There will also be a welcome return of Mac Magill, teaming with Lyle Kotze and Ashley Brill to face the skilled DJ Devine, Brandon Devine and Mario Van der Merwe.
Racing will start at noon, with practice sessions in the morning.
