SA pair to challenge own Guinness world record

South African pair, Enrico Schoeman and André de Kock, the current Guinness world record holders for riding a motorcycle through a fire tunnel, will face down the flames again next year.

They will attempt to better their own current record of 103 metres in the town of Parys at the beginning of September.

Their record run, to be in the region of 120 metres, will coincide with the Bike SA Rhino Rally, which is being staged in Parys for the first time next year.

As in the past, Schoeman and De Kock will ride an old Australian sidecar through the inferno.

“Being invited to perform at the Rhino Rally is a privilege, so we immediately accepted,” said De Kock.

“Then we decided to go for our record. Riding through a fire tunnel is hellishly dangerous, and if I am going to run that risk, it needs to be for something really worthwhile, like a new world record,” he added.

The effort will be registered with Guinness before the end of the year.
