Having introduced the updated Panamera just over a year ago, Porsche has now released a special edition version confirmed for South Africa from next year.
Set to make its world debut at the Los Angeles International Auto Show next week, the Panamera Platinum Edition will be offered in conventional sedan and Sport Turismo bodystyles, along with a long wheelbase Executive model only China will get.
Externally, the Platinum Edition differentiates itself from other Panameras by featuring black sports exhaust outlets, high gloss black window surrounds, blacked-out taillight clusters, a panoramic roof and platinum painted Porsche badges, vents behind the front wheels arches and Panamera logos.

Although fitted a standard with model specific 21-inch Design Sport alloy wheels, buyers do have the option of 20-inch Panamera style alloys with a platinum finish. Otherwise, included features are the Matrix LED headlights with Porsche Dynamic Light System Plus and auto-dimming mirrors.
Equipped with the Porsche Active Suspension Management system, also as standard, the Platinum’s unique interior touches comprise the GT sports steering wheel, electric seats that are heated at the front and rear, brushed black aluminium inserts, soft-touch closing doors, brushed aluminium door sills with Platinum Edition lettering and the upgraded Bose sound system.
For South Africa, all three of the international market Platinum Edition models will be offered; the simply named Panamera that produces 243kW/700Nm from its 2.9-litre bi-turbo V6, the Panamera 4 that boasts the same outputs albeit with all-wheel-drive, and the 4 E-Hybrid that combines the powerunit with a 100 kW electric motor for a total system output of 412kW/750Nm.
As with the regular Panamera, the Platinum Edition is covered by a three year/100 000km Driveplan.
