When we talk performance, we tend not to mention Toyota.
But that is set to change in no time since Toyota is keeping a close eye at a GTI-rivaling hot hatch, likely to be the next Auris.
Speaking to Toyota Australia’s vice-president of sales and marketing, Sean Hanley, Motoring Australia uncovered there’s a strong chance that a Gazoo Racing Auris variant, built on the rigid TGNA platform, will happen.
“I’d like to see it as soon as possible,” Hanley grinned, “in the next three years I wouldn’t rule out the possibility or probability of something coming under the Gazoo Racing brand”.
The third-generation Toyota Auris will arrive in South Africa in the second half of this year.
